High school sensation, Mikey Williams, is a junior at Lake Norman Christian School. At only 17 years old, Mikey has become quite the star athlete. From turning heads to having fans wrap around gyms across the state, leaving a mark that no one will ever soon forget. Mikey will surely see himself playing professional basketball in his years to come, and you won’t regret gambling the odds of his future once you see him in action!
“Practice makes perfect”, a very true statement and in this case, Mikey took it to heart and did just that. Since this legend in the making was 14 years old, he could shoot hoops like any other pro in the league. Not much difference between him and the big dogs, though, considering Mikey has signed autographs from just about everything, whether it be the nearest piece of paper ready to be thrown in the garbage, or even on the back of phone cases. In some odd cases, there would be a few die-hard fans that only had body parts for him to sign, signing foreheads is the only body part he’s been asked to sign and he’s never left a fan disappointed.
That’s not all in comparison when it comes to Mikey and his idols, with having an impressive 3.3 million followers on Instagram, along with getting fan pages made separately in his honor. Mikey doesn't seem to find any difficulty keeping his personal life off social platforms, and keeping a thin line of “imagination” between the two, giving him the advantage on having more than any NBA player ever to have more fan base followers, regarding a title over social media images. Just like any other worshiped basketball player though, Mikey can’t go a full game or finish a game in that matter without fans getting at least one picture with him.
All this attention Williams has accumulated over the years can be a lot to take in and process fully. “I’m still getting used to it, to be honest with you,” Mikey admits in an interview with yahoo news earlier this week. “But I got nothing but love for all my fans.” Reassuring that nothing is too big or too small that Mikey can’t handle or tackle, making him a stronger player, a confident role model, and holding the title of the only one of his kind more powerful. Humbly stating “no one has been through what I’ve been through.” Adding with, “I would try to use a different player for an example, but I can’t think of one.” Just last month he was reported to be the first player in the history of his age to ever sign a multimillion-dollar shoe deal with Puma, navigating the space as a pioneer, taking consideration of new name, image, And likeness fit more in the same category. That’s not the only signature he gave to a big corporation and certainly won’t be Williams last, also signed a marketing deal with excel sports management just last summer.
It's a normal game day for Mikey when he looks up in the stands and sees 4 familiar faces cheering him on. Unlike normal kids his age, he wasn’t looking for his parents or other, family members. Instead, his professional NBA friends frequently came to watch and support Mikey. Lebron James, Deandre Ayton, Lamelo ball, and Cole Anthony. All 4 pros go out and show enthusiasm while sharing their advice on the future of basketball. Mikey has been truly inspired by observing their knowledge and guidance of greatness, that if Mikey does get the chance to join the league later in his life, he’ll keep the tradition alive by watching and guiding young shining stars like himself. “it’s love and it goes both ways.”
Mikey Williams’s future shines bright in the near distance, with having the world at his fingertips, the possibilities never end. Creating different paths to the NBA nowadays, his choices all lead him to greatness, this has fans and recruiters curious to as which path he’ll be deciding with. All of these decisions are up in the air, Mikey just wants what’s best for him and his development.
