A lot has happened in the past year. Sometimes it feels like there’s too much to keep up with, so we tend to concentrate on those major events. But some of the famous people we just lost few years back were more than just famous — they were extremely talented. The loss of these talented individuals and their contributions is a big loss for our society as a whole. It's a very unfortunate reality that I wish was generalized to any and all genres of music, but when it comes down to it, the hip-hop industry has been the center of these shortcomings over the last 25 years we've been into this culture. It's a subject that doesn't get enough attention from the media, which I understand. Not many people want to accept the fact that hip-hop has the highest rate of homicide cases than any other genre of music. In 2015, a study was conducted and indicated that murder was the cause of 51.5% of American hip-hop musicians deaths, with the average age of death at or between 25-30 years old. Why is this? Reasons believe it's due to the involvements of criminal gangs, rumpant drug use, and poor pastorale care.
